New Back Links Count In Webmaster Tools – It is Caffeine related

If you have checked back links today for your site in webmaster tools, you may be surprised when you see. It seems like most people’s link counts are incredibly inflated. Google seems showing 10 times more back links count as compared to usual link count it was used to report in webmaster tools.

This major inflation of link counts in Google Webmaster Tools has been noted and varified as real counts.

Google has confirmed this huge increases (few noticed less links) in the number of links being displyed, it is Caffeine related.

JohnMu of Google said in a Google Webmaster Help thread:

“Yes, we revamped the data behind the backlinks feature in Webmaster Tools — it has started using more data from “Caffeine” for some sites and is planned to continue with a bit more data in the next week or so. The goal is to have more fresher & up-to-date data there .”

So we will have now more data to research our back links and rankings.
